Issaquah, Wash.-based Costco Wholesale Corp. reported net sales of $16.26 billion, a 13 percent increase, for the third quarter ending May 11, 2008, compared with $14.34 billion for the same time period last year. Comparable-store sales rose 8 percent; while net income was $295.1 million, versus $224 million. For year-to-date, net sales were $48.35 billion, a 12 percent increase, compared with $43 billion, and comparable-store sales rose 7 percent. Net income was $884.9 million, versus $710.4 million. Costco operates 538 stores throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, Canada, the United Kingdom, Korea, Taiwan, Japan and Mexico.
