Sweetbay Supermarkets CEO Resigns
June 06, 2008

Salisbury, N.C.-based Delhaize America Inc. announced the resignation of Shelley Broader, president and CEO of Sweetbay Supermarkets, according to the St. Petersburg Times. Broader is leaving the company to fill an executive position for another retailer outside of the supermarket industry. "Given our strong performance in today's weak spending environment, this company is in excellent hands and on a solid trajectory that will only get better when the economy turns," Broader said. Under Broader's guidance, the company had completely reinvented its Kash n' Karry concept and spent more than $350 million rebuilding 107 Sweetbay stores. Delahize operates more than 1,500 stores under the Food Lion, Hannaford Brothers, Harvey's and Sweetbay banners.
