Jarvis Winery Implements Solar Electric System
July 03, 2008

Napa, Calif.-based Jarvis Inc. (Jarvis Winery) recently acquired a new solar electric system, designed and installed by Broomfield, Colo.-based Real Goods Solar. The winery now will produce as much energy as it uses. "This completes our latest shift to a green operation," said owners William and Leticia Jarvis. According to Real Goods Solar, the solar electric system will take about seven years to pay for itself, after which Jarvis Winery will receive all electricity from the sun—for free. Although the system has a 25-year warranty, industry experts say solar panels generally produce power for at least 40 years.
