The American Dream
October 01, 2007
The concept of the “American Dream” throughout the last two centuries came to define prosperity derived from honest, hard work—the dream of many when they came to America to claim their fortune. Today, the American Dream, or the aspiration of rags to riches, is not so easily translated or attained. In fact, the American Dream may be a myth to some while an achievable goal for others. Its interpretation often depends on whether one falls in the low-income and working class, the prevalent middle class or the wealthy upper class.
DDI's three-part series, titled The American Dream, identifies the social and economic characteristics, opportunities and challenges of three categories of consumers: low income/working class, middle class and upper class.
